Project Brief

Filmed during the annual CAFe Budapest Festival, Hungary, this film is an intimate portrayal of Oakland-based dance group BANDALOOP's mind-bending performance in the beautiful city of Budapest.

The goal - to ignite a powerful creative collaboration, do it safely, and produce a film that could be shared with audiences all over the world and extend the reach of a special moment in time.

The results - The award-winning film went on to play at festivals worldwide and represented a brand-aligned vision of celebrating the human spirit.

The BANDALOOP artistic legacy would not be the same without these experiences
— Thomas Cavanagh, BANDALOOP Executive Director
This is an incredible partnership because we have an authentic shared interest in the celebration of the human spirit and stepping out of comfort zones.

We let the dancers play with the GoPro FUSION (VR) camera during rehearsals. I created this video using the new 360 ReFrame plugins that GoPro was developing at the time. This was the world’s first spherical video of wall dancers.
